Cleburne native runs for Ta-Tas!!

TVO Member Nicole Stevenson decided to take the journey to South Carolina and take part in the Triple Islander. This is a race that goes across 3 days, 30 miles, on 3 Islands. This race is a fundraiser for #PledgeThePink to help raise money to provide free mammograms.

When talking to Nicole we found out that she had personal ties to the cause and she was very emotional in her support. "I have a grandmother that has beaten breast cancer for the second time (recently) and being able to help bring awareness and raise money for any woman who has been fighting cancer. The money that we raise through donations go towards giving away free mammograms so women can get checked up and get it detected early. I want to do this run ever year and blow out the 30 miles. We all win in this situation, and help bring in donations. **Friends don't let friends fight cancer alone!!**"

To help reduce the swelling and fatigue in her legs she improvised by grabbing all the ice she could at the hotel and filling up the bathtub. If you are unsure of her method, check out this article!

By no means is Nicole new to long distance running. While she served her country in the US Navy she was a Naval Aircrewman (AWS) who was assigned to the MH-53E Sea Dragon, more commonly known as the "Big Iron". Crewman are held to much higher fitness standards amongst their community than regular sailors. Their fitness level is paramount to their mission success and being able to perform their duties while in flight.

Nicole has already signed up for next years race, and we look forward to supporting her and her continued journey to help raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer!

Great job Nicole, we all are proud of you!! #TVO #PledgeThePink
